Choose one main visit each day
Start with the interests and stamina of the youngest traveller rather than a list of attractions. One substantial visit, a meal and an optional short walk can be a full day. Arrival and departure days need their own allowance for luggage, waiting and unfamiliar surroundings.
For a first visit, separate the Terracotta Army excursion from the central-city day. Leave another day for a museum if your family enjoys objects and stories. You can make a shorter trip work by leaving out an activity, rather than trying to fit all three into one long outing.
Make the warriors a looking game
Before the visit, introduce one simple question: why would an emperor surround his tomb with an army? Inside, ask children to look for differences in hair, clothing or the way a figure stands. Let their observations lead the conversation instead of testing them on dates.
Agree a meeting point and keep the group together in busy halls. A guide should know the children’s ages and your preferred pace beforehand. Clarify where you can pause and how long the session lasts; an adult-focused lecture may not suit a younger visitor.
Plan documents and transport together
Check admission rules for every child as well as every adult. Age, height, nationality and document requirements can differ between venues. Do not assume that a concession mentioned in another traveller’s account applies to your family. Follow the current museum instructions linked below.
For a transfer, tell the organiser how many people are travelling, the children’s ages and the amount of luggage. Discuss suitable child restraints explicitly. Do not infer that a larger vehicle automatically provides the seating arrangements you need. Save the pickup location and a contact method offline.
Keep the city day easy to shorten
Choose a short wall visit or a ground-level walk according to conditions. Do not promise a child a bicycle ride until you have checked the operator’s current age, height and rental rules. Steps, exposed paving and busy crossings may matter more than the distance on a map.
Leave a comfortable meal break and a return-to-hotel option. If everyone still has energy, add a nearby evening stroll. If not, finishing early is a successful adjustment. A modern craft workshop can be another optional activity, provided you confirm supervision, materials, duration and whether the finished object can travel home.
